Dr. Nancy Kheck, MBA, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Medical Education for International American University.
“International American University is dedicated to recruiting the best and brightest faculty minds, said Dr. Manish Nair, University CEO. “Having esteemed faculty members such as Dr. Kheck supports IAU’s mission of creating and fostering a unique environment of learning for IAU students.”
Dr. Nancy Kheck is an adept medical science educator with over 18 years of interdisciplinary and inter-professional teaching and consulting experience (in areas of curriculum design; grantsmanship for biomedical and educational research; professional development programs for medical educators; and K-12 science education). Dr. Kheck served as Assistant Dean & Director of the Curriculum Office at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York City. She had oversight of all course-related operations, staffing, academic schedules, space, resource allocation, and supervised MS1-2 teaching faculty. Dr. Kheck’s office supported all institutional reaccreditation work, annual reporting to government oversight agencies, and the use of course-educator-student evaluation data for outcomes assessment to implement continuous quality improvements.
In this role Dr. Kheck was also responsible for recruitment, mentorship and remediation of faculty educators in biomedical/clinical teaching roles, she chaired key education committees, and directed her division through evolving curricular, programmatic and leadership changes. She also co-designed and implemented a mission-based budget paradigm to recognize faculty teaching effort and establish institutional value for this service. In anticipation of the changing financial and regulatory landscape under the Affordable Care Act (2010), Dr. Kheck recently added an MBA degree in Healthcare Industry Management to her diverse skillset.
Dr. Kheck brings to IAU a decade of leadership-management experience in academic administration, organizational & strategic planning, and managing clinical & basic science faculty teams. She welcomes faculty and students to share their IAU experiences and expertise with her as she becomes an integral part of the clinical sciences education team based in Baltimore, and the pre-clerkship basic science program in St. Lucia.
