55th Independence Celebration at IAU

“Ye Ma Mu Ayekoo” in the local Ghanaian dialect, twi, means we congratulate you, a well-deserved congratulations for Ghana’s 55th Independence Day which falls on March 6, 2012. In honor of Ghana’s Independence Day, the Africa Students’ Association (ASA) at International American University (IAU) College of Medicine organized the event

“Ye Ma Mu Ayekoo” in the local Ghanaian dialect, twi, means we congratulate you, a well-deserved congratulations for Ghana’s 55th Independence Day which falls on March 6, 2012. In honor of Ghana’s Independence Day, the Africa Students’ Association (ASA) at International American University (IAU) College of Medicine organized the event – the first event of its kind at IAU.

It was one of the most-attended and successful celebrations that started with an opening prayer in Ghanaian language by one of the ASA members, followed by the national anthem. The audience experienced lots of exciting things from Ghana like the famous places, tourist sites, culture, including African food.

The main purpose of such event is to create an awareness of African countries among IAU students, faculty and staffs. The event was attended by a large group of students.
