In order to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Medical Student Run Free Community Clinic (MSRFCC) at International American University College of Medicine, Vieux Fort hosted an educational event that focused on breast health and provided guidance on the importance of screening for breast cancer. The educational presentation was followed by private optional screenings conducted by senior medical students with advanced clinical skills under the supervision of Dr. Barton. During the screenings, individuals were taught how to do self-examinations, educated on symptoms to look out for, as well as encouraged to visit a doctor if they were concerned about their symptoms. The event provided the insight into the importance of breast health and created awareness in the community. To learn more about the event, check out Dr. Gannon’s full press release featured in the St. Lucia Times .
