Scholarships and Grants

International American University offers qualified students a variety of scholarship opportunities that reward academic excellence and community and volunteer service. Academic scholarships are awarded to new, incoming students only and are credited to Basic Science Terms only. Scholarships are competitive and funds are limited so eligible students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applicants must complete the form below in order to be considered for any scholarships.

Please note that there is no guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship and the number of scholarships awarded per semester may vary. All scholarship decisions are final and are not open to appeal. YOU MUST FIRST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP.

Scholarships are awarded to students who have provided a very strong academic record.

  • Award Amount: Awarded $2000 per semester covering all semesters of the Basic Sciences in the program of medicine.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Students with an undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.7 or higher.
    • Hold an undergraduate degree (equivalent to U.S. bachelor’s degree)
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress and maintain a 3.0 each semester to continue eligibility

Scholarships are awarded to students who have provided a strong academic record.

  • Award Amount: Awarded up to $1,500 per semester covering all semesters of the Basic Sciences in the program of medicine.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Awarded to those students with an undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.3 or higher.
    • Hold an undergraduate degree (equivalent to U.S. bachelor’s degree)
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress and maintain a 3.0 each semester to continue eligibility

Limited scholarships are awarded to students who have recently completed the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) Exams and had a certain minimum score.

  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Students applying for this scholarship must submit official proof that the exam was taken and what score was earned.
    • Awarding of an MCAT Scholarship will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Factors include a student’s demonstrated
      financial need and persistence to complete the degree.
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress and maintain a 3.0 each semester to continue eligibility

IAU recognizes the service and sacrifice performed by the veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed forces on active duty, either currently or with an honorable discharge.

  • Award Amount: Awarded $500 per semester covering the entire Basic Sciences of the program of medicine.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester to continue eligibility

A Scholarship awarded to certified EMT’s, Paramedics, LVNs, and RN’s in the US or Canada.

  • Award Amount: Awarded $500 tuition credit per semester, covering all semesters of the Basic Sciences of the program of medicine.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • All applicants must provide a completed application along with proof of current certification/licensure
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester to continue eligibility

A limited number of Saint Lucian Tuition Scholarships are available only to Saint Lucian citizens currently enrolled in the MD program.

  • Award Amount: Awarded 100% covered tuition scholarship for one student each semester which is awarded on a first come, first-served basis. All other enrolled Saint Lucian citizens may qualify for a 50% tuition reduction.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester to continue eligibility
    • IAU cannot guarantee clinical placement in the United States and applicants are subject to US Immigration laws if they
      wish to complete rotations in the United States.

IAU is pleased to promote the career ambitions of students from CARICOM member states and associate member states by offering a special tuition scholarship.

Applicants who have taken college-level coursework in the US or Canada are ineligible for this grant.

  • Award Amount: Awarded a 50% reduction off of their tuition cost for Premed and Basic Sciences programs for CARICOM citizens who are accepted.
    • The tuition reduction scholarship will cover the four terms of Premed Classes and only 4 semester of Basic Sciences.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • All applicants must submit a complete application along with a copy of their passport, birth certificate, and proof of current address
    • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required to qualify for this grant
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester to continue eligibility

IAU is pleased to promote the career ambitions of students from African countries by offering a special tuition scholarship.

  • Award Amount: Awarded a tuition reduction scholarship which will cover the four semester of the Pre-Medical Program or of MS 1 – MS 4 only
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester to continue eligibility
    • All applicants must submit a copy of their passport, birth certificate, and proof of current address

Scholarship Eligibility?

  • Student must score a minimum of 75% in 12th Grade
  • Students scoring above 475-500 on NEET Exams are eligible to apply up to 500 USD discount to the Non-Refundable Seat Deposit.

Scholarship Rules

  • Students must maintain a 3.2 GPA in order to maintain the scholarship tuition.
  • Students with any delinquent accounts or financial holds will be revoked from the Scholarship Tuition Program.
  • Students who fail any of the subjects will be revoked from the Scholarship Program and will have to pay full tuition for the failed subjects with additional housing fee.
  • Students must be in compliance with the 80% attendance rule in the Student Handbook.
