The afternoon session of July 5th 2018 was entertained by a healthy debate on the topic ‘Should animals be used for research’, amongst the Pre Med students of IAU. The debate teams included the students from Pre Med 1, who stood against the topic under debate and the students from Pre Med 2 who stood for the topic in support of it. The debate was elucidative and shed light upon many ethical, moral and logical reasons as to why animals should and should not be used for research purposes.
The discourse was attended by Dr. James Villaneuva, Dean of Basic Science, Ms. Remise Anthony, Professor from Pre Med department and other members of the staff. The arguments put forward by the students were appreciated by both Dr. James and Ms. Anthony, who evaluated the presentation and shared their valuable comments with the students.
