A tragic explosion at Rayneau’s Quarry in Cul de Sac, Saint Lucia claimed lives and caused many casualties. As the news of this unfortunate incident spread our faculty and student body quickly raced to help in any way they could.
IAU would like to recognize and thank Dr. James Villanueva and Dr. Rasheed Agboola for their quick response to address the medical need. Due to the many injuries reported, the Saint Lucia blood bank services and Victoria Hospital were making announcements through newspaper and social media to the general public to come out and donate blood as they were facing a shortage.
IAU students responded by donating blood to the Victoria Hospital. The doctors and blood bank services appreciated the efforts of our students who travelled all the way to Victoria. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected in this heartbreaking accident and we thank the efforts of our faculty and students.
