2016 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Welcome graduates, alumni, family and friends!

Ceremony Venue

The IAU College of Medicine 2016 Commencement Ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. CST on May 21, 2015 at the Marriott at Legacy Town Center location. To assist in your graduation planning, please review the following information regarding travel.

Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Stephen King, MBBS, FRCPC, OBE

Dr. Stephen King is a pathologist and former Chief Medical Officer. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and a member of the Association of Clinical Pathologists of the USA. He practices pathology in his private capacity and is the forensic pathologist for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. He was one of the architects of the Saint Lucia Health Sector Reform Proposals 2000, the Universal Health Care Proposal of 2003, and the National Strategic Plan for Health 2006-2011. In 2008 he received the award of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire OBE) for his contribution to Medicine. He was one of the co-founders and the first chairman of the AIDS Action Foundation and one of the co-founders and one of the current directors of RISE (St.Lucia) Inc. He is chairman of the Caribbean Medlab Foundation and a member of the international committee of Accreditation Canada. He is the Laboratory Director and major shareholder of Laboratory Services and Consultation Ltd. He is an appointed Independent Senator 2012.

CEREMONY PREPARATION

Academic Regalia

MAY 6, 2016 IS THE DEADLINE FOR ORDERING REGALIA.
Any orders made after this date will not arrive in time for commencement.

When placing your order, please follow the below instructions to receive your regalia in time for commencement. Directly contact Arlinda Bush at abstudentservices@hotmail.com.

All orders and payments must be submitted no later than May 6, 2016. Orders made after this date will not arrive in time for the commencement ceremony.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony if you do not have regalia. It is your responsibility to have these items with you for the ceremony.

Commencement Portraits

Professional photographers will be on hand on graduation day to take photos. A formal photo shoot has been scheduled from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. prior to the ceremony. All graduates must be present for the portraits.

The photographer will take your photographs when you receive your diploma. You will be able to purchase these photos as well as a composite class portrait directly from the photographer. Information regarding the process for purchasing commencement portraits will be provided on the day of the ceremony.

 Social Reception

The Office of the President will be hosting a social reception for graduates and their guests after the ceremony. IAU College of Medicine Deans and staff members will be in attendance, and we hope it will be a wonderful opportunity for you to catch up with old friends and mentors in preparation for the main event.
