IAU organized its 22nd White Coat ceremony at the Kimatrai Hotel in Vieux-Fort on January11, 2013. Hon. Alva Baptiste, Minister for Civil Aviation, External Affairs and International Trade, Government of St. Lucia was the Guest of Honor at the ceremony. Dr. Ezzeldin Nasser, Dean of Basic Sciences was present. The White coats were given to the students by the Dean and Dr. Jay Kravitz, MD, MPH presented the stethoscopes to the students as they embark their journey into the field of Medicine.
The ceremony was attended by members of the community, parents of the new students, faculty, staff and senior students. The various speakers mentioned in their speech about the dignity of the profession they chose and outlined what is expected of them as medical students. At the ceremony, students were presented with awards for their excellence in National Board of Medical Examination (NBME).
