Orientation For The New Students, Summer 2019

International American University College of Medicine hosted its New Student Orientation on the 6th and 7th of May 2019 for the Summer Semester 2019 at the campus in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia.  Professor and Dean of Basic Sciences, Dr. James Villanueva conducted the event and welcomed all of the students,

International American University College of Medicine hosted its New Student Orientation on the 6th and 7th of May 2019 for the Summer Semester 2019 at the campus in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia.  Professor and Dean of Basic Sciences, Dr. James Villanueva conducted the event and welcomed all of the students, parents & guest who were in attendance. Dr. Villanueva led the orientation covering academic policies, campus rules, exam procedures, discipline and various committee operations on campus. A full understanding was provided to the students as to what to expect, moving forward in their medical careers.

Dr. Rasheed Agboola, Dean of Student Affairs enlightened the students about life at IAU and life in the Saint Lucia. Associate Professors, Dr. Aleric Soans and Dr. Kamala Narayana Swami, communicated with the students and presented different study techniques that can be adopted to ensure their success at IAU.

The Chief Academic Officer Dr. Patrick J Gannon also interacted with the students via video conference.

The students were provided a tour of the Vieux Fort town to familiarize the students with their immediate surroundings and were also introduced to: a representatives from NAGICO, Bank of Saint Lucia (BOSL), a local member of the police and fire departments. These individuals provided key information about the Island of St. Lucia in addition to assisting the new students with needed information on how to adjust to their new living environment.

IAU appreciates and welcomes all students to a wonderful semester ahead and wishes them all the success.
