The welcome remark was presented by Dr. Gannon, who welcomed and congratulated the students on their acceptance to the University. He further explained the Academic Oversight. Students were applauded for choosing to join the IAU family!
Dr. Rasheed mentioned, that the New Student Orientation is designed to assist students with questions they might have about the campus and surroundings. He exhorted students to be astute in their studies and make the best of this opportunity. Students were provided with the relevant information about the campus, programs and services provided by IAU. He further spoke briefly about the Library, Tutoring sessions, Class Schedule, Clubs and organizations. Dr. Rasheed stated that Faculty & staff are here to assist and guide students during their time at IAU; also the current students are ready to answer any queries about the campus or Island life.
Dr. James addressed the students explaining the academic polices and also introduced the Faculties. Dr. Rasheed spoke about Students life here at IAU & Disaster Management, followed by Dr. Naveen & Dr. James with Study Techniques. Dr. Jeffery dealt with Stress Management & Dr. Biswas spoke on Test Performance. Ms. Joan Daniel – Librarian spoke briefly about the Library Policies & the availability of EBSCO to assist students with research and projects.
A number of representatives from the Vieux-Fort and surrounding communities addressed the students on different aspects of the community life and activities. Representatives included: Staff from Bank of Scotia, Bank of St. Lucia, Fire Department, Nagico Insurance & the Police Department.
