“Good morning! On behalf of IAU College of Medicine, It’s my great pleasure to welcome you to the campus & St. Lucia by extension.”—Dr. Gannon, Executive Dean of Academics

 Dr. Gannon also praised the students on their acceptance to the University. “To you, the parents here, I look forward to getting to know the exceptional young men and women you have raised, and giving them the opportunity for them to grow and learn and make a tremendous difference in the world.”

Dr. James mentioned, “You have chosen one of the best Universities in St. Lucia & I can guarantee you that you came to a warm & welcoming community.” He went further discussed students’ performances disciplines & the various committees.

Dr. Rasheed, Dean of Student Affairs, reiterated the orientation exercise is to prepare the students to make a smooth transition here, he spoke briefly on the different organizations & associations that the students can be part of.  He stated, “You are about to begin your education in one of the most honored & professional felids. You will also develop a relationship with classmates, faculty and the administrative staff.  He encouraged the students to be part of the various associations here at IAU. Be aware of their surroundings and treat everyone with respect. We are all here to assist you in any way possible.”

The various representatives from the Vieux-Fort communities addressed the students on different aspects of the community life and activities.  Representatives included: Staff from Bank of Scotia, Bank of St. Lucia, Fire Department, Nagico Insurance & the Police Department.
