The new batch of 43 students joined IAU Basic Science Program on September 5, 2011. 32 students joined the Basic Science Semester One Program and 11 students joined the Basic Science Preparatory program.

The Orientation program gave the students a brief overview of the Basic Science Program and introduction to the student life in the island with necessary information to acclimatize to the island life. The students were given a brief on the campus and the exam Policies and also were given an introduction to their respective subjects by the faculty members. The representatives of the St. Lucia Community Development Office, Fire Service and Royal St. Lucia Police Force were also present to talk to the students regarding the St. Lucian Community, Safety on the Island and the traffic rules.
